Thursday Sep 14, 2017 at 5:12 PM Coca-Cola United was on the University of Georgia campus Wednesday and Thursday trading Coke products for hugs using the Coca-Cola Hug Machine. The Athens-based Coke bottling plant brought the huggable vending machine to campus in an effort to "spread some happiness, " said Kristen Isaacson, Coca-Cola United Business Development Manager. The Hug Machine looks like the average vending machine, but instead of buttons, there are sensors on the side and an invitation to "Hug Me. " When the machine gets a hug, a Coke drops out. "There's no tricks, no ulterior motives. We just want to make people smile, " Isaacson said. UGA students lined up to hug the machine, something that was a novel experience for many. "I drink a lot of Cokes, but I've never hugged a Coke machine before to get one, " said UGA Sophomore Ethan Pham. "It's something that you don't see every day. I think it's really cool. " The Hug Machine's first appearance was in Singapore in 2012, and since then, the traveling promotional item has made stops across the globe.

" Financial Constraints For years, disability organisations have said New York's subway system has performed poorly when compared to other US cities like San Francisco and Washington D. C., which are considered fully accessible to riders using wheelchairs. This has led to a number of lawsuits against the MTA, most notably from non-profit group Disability Rights Advocates. Currently, about 29 percent of the authority's 472 subway stations are accessible, or 135 stations (although nine of these are only partially accessible). The MTA had hoped to create 70 newly accessible stations by 2024, before pandemic losses forced it to put its capital plan on hold. The authority is currently seeking over US$8 billion in financial assistance from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), including US$770 million for station accessibility upgrades, US$620 million to replace elevators and escalators and US$210 million for station renovations.
